Full disclosure, I lost my job due to outsourcing. This was the best thing that could have happened to me. And also the worst. But I took this as an
opportunity to take a deep look at my life, current situation and figure out what I wanted to do. I decided I wanted to keep learning, especially something new where I could grow in a career while doing something I love and am passionate about. Also, learning new skills is never a bad idea!
I have always been fascinated by technology since I was young. I am an 80's
baby, after all! I remember watching my brother play Full Throttle and
Doom (to name a couple) for hours on our first MS-DOS computer. There, I
fell in love with computers. I loved all the possibilities that came along with it. The fascination only grew as new
technology and programs continued to be released. At my former job, I was always the
"go-to" person among my co-workers and friends for tech related issues. No one had time to wait for the IT guy to come, so they'd call on me instead. Whether I knew the problem or not, I loved figuring out solutions to their problems. Because of my love for technology, especially computers, and problem-solving,
I knew I had to persue a career in technology.
When I discovered coding and front-end development, I fell in love. I've
always been curious about how the internet works. Now knowing how to
create actual web pages and applications, I am beyond thrilled and
excited to begin a career in development. I don't know what took me so long! I love the challenge of finding, figuring out, and fixing simple to complex problems. I love that the learning is
limitless. I enjoy the thrill of learning something new and being able
to apply it. I love that "aha!" moment of coming across a problem that I had already come across and solved in the past and remembering how to solve it. And most of all, the amazing things that I am now able to create. Just wow! I look forward to demonstrating my solid acquired skills, my newfound skills, and my passion for working hard; To make a difference with meaningful work and being apart of something bigger than myself.
